Discharging Racism Council - Hattie Carthan Community Market

The Hattie Carthan Community Farmers Market is a grassroots community revitalization project in Central Brooklyn NYC founded by woman farmer Yonnette Fleming in 2009 . The market  seeks to create a healthy community where each member has access to fresh food and the resources required to grow and distribute it in the Bedford Stuyvesant community. The community based/led market accomplishes its mission through increasing access to fresh food, providing gardening, composting, nutrition, cultural competence and food justice education to youths, elders and community residents.
Join us for the 6th annual Discharging Racism Council this Sunday 2/21 from 11am-5pm at the Magnolia Tree and Earth Center. It is that time of year again, where we lean in to educate our community members about the pathology of RACISM and seek ways to discharge its effects on our bodies, minds and Spirit. This year we are looking to expand our resilience work in the Bedford Stuyvesant community and wish to do more to address internalized racism as well as white superiority  as they both cause us to operate in a sick manner in our communities and undermine our national aspiration of equity, equality and justice. We extend an invitation to ALL PEOPLE to join us as we heal through advancing clarity around RACISM, unjust privilege and inequities embedded in our systems (and the food system in particular).
The workshop includes a documentary, talking council, and sound healing circle.
Please bring a dish for the community potluck.
Magnolia Tree and Earth Center is located at 677 Lafayette Ave between Marcy and Tompkins, near the Bedford-Nostrand G Train or the B38 Bus.
